The next morning when the phone rang, my husband
and I held our breaths as we answered. We were lucky,
fertilization had taken place. We had six healthy embryos.
We scheduled the implantation. If everything goes well, two
embryos will be implanted and the remaining four will be
frozen for future use. I have been told that there is a
chance that the embryos could be lost in the implantation
attempt. They will be implanted into the cavity of the
uterus using a catheter inserted through the cervix.
Sometimes the catheter must be moved several times and
embryos are sucked out as it is withdrawn down the neck of
the womb. Every stage of this process has been a risk, and
even if the implantation is successful, there are so many
things that could still go wrong. But for now, we have hope.
My husband and I have created six healthy
embryos-with a little help from BioCom.
