Antinuclear activists extended their protests this week as Congress prepared to consider temporary storage of high-level nuclear waste at the Nevada Test Site.

Protesters say the demonstrations for this week lend support to Nevada and Las Vegas residents opposing a high-level nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain, low-level radioactive waste dumping at the Test Site, and further weapons experiments.

Less than 100 demonstrators have been arrested so far at the traditional spring antinuclear protests at the NTS gates. They were cited for trespassing and released on Sunday and Friday
