Avenue of the Americas

The Gay Parade was a happening that shook the whole city's foundations.
For a moment I got lost in this crazy human turmoil. What a beautiful sensation of solitude and peace
among the exultant multitude of masks! I felt like I was floating on
the crests of the waves. I joined
the crowd, despite the displeasure
of the police who were there. They
were trying to separate the paraders
from the ordinary rubbernecks
on the street. I tried to explain
to them I was gay, too, but
didn't sound too convincing.
Probably because I wasn't wearing a
mask. But do all gays have to
wear a mask? What if it were the
other way around? Next time I go to a parade
I'll wear the mask of a heterosexual.
But what does this mask look like?
And where can you buy one?
