Bed-In New Zealand:
another one bites the dust
(private messages deleted)
katy: so, anyone wanna get back to the celeb thing?
Max_in_the_UK: yes ok.......
Max_in_the_UK: but dont keep talking about all those highbrow people i have never heard
katy: how about a comment on the 'inappropriateness' of celebs speaking
out?
Max_in_the_UK: i think mae west would have some comment but i cant think what ?
katy: something to the effects of "you boys have lost your minds.." is that a mae west comment?
Max_in_the_UK: sort of
katy: but with accent, of course
Max_in_the_UK: yes....can you do one ?
katy: kinda hard!
katy: did that work?
katy: did i make a sound?
Max_in_the_UK: yehhhhhh
Max_in_the_UK: yes you did
(private messages deleted)
katy: what's going on?
Max_in_the_UK: no idea
katy: hello, amy!
Max_in_the_UK: you tell me
Max_in_the_UK: Good Morning Amy
(private messages deleted)
Max_in_the_UK: We all heard you snoring !!
Jay D: hi bed ..
Jay D: hi katy
Max_in_the_UK: And we saw you twitching as you dreamed.
Bed-In New Zealand: Jay D welcome to the bed-in for peace…
Jay D: sure...
Jay D: im a south african
Jay D: living in London
katy: how do you feel about the current situation, jay?
Jay D: ...been obviously involved with current things...bomb scares..anthrax scares...
Jay D: all that
katy: what was your coverage on the conference in durban?
Jay D: and i live really close to canary wharf in london..which is equiv finacial district to twin towers
katy: oh, yeah, you're in london (sorry bout that)
Jay D: well... i have a very good friend that works for the South African high commission in london
Jay D: he attended
katy: how was it?
Jay D: he said..overall....it was a waste of time.....he said people were just looking to blame things that people had done wrong in the past instead of working on the future
katy: what was his role in the conference?
(private messages deleted)
katy: welcome everyone, do you have any opinions that you would like to share?
katy:
sorry
katy:
nothing new
Bed-In New Zealand:
NYC are you there? are you fasting?
Bed-In New Zealand:
Max, do you like the British Government?
katy:
and how do you feel about Tony Blair's cooperation?
Max_in_the_UK:
On balance yes i do.......but its a hard one as my biased being socialist
(private messages deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand: adrenaly, welcome to the bed-in for peace…
(private messages deleted)
katy: so, jay, back to your friend, what was his role at the conference?
Max_in_the_UK:
i just got back from one week in Paris with my job and i was amazed to see how often Blair was on TV
Bed-In New Zealand:
he's quite a media star
katy:
was your friend attending in order to report or in order to accomplish certain goals?
Max_in_the_UK:
It is strange how successive prime ministers blindly support USA in everything........whatever party
katy:
no kidding!
Bed-In New Zealand:
max - you mean its hard to support the war?
Max_in_the_UK:
NZ .......what was the question specifically regarding Blairs cooperation ?
Max_in_the_UK:
are you asking my personal viewpoint or what i think our governments is ?
Jay D:
is intent on turning apartheid onto the white ....
Jay D:
or rather he HAS
NewYorkCity:
it looks like things are working a little better at my end now...let's see how long this lasts now.
NewYorkCity:
hi amy! i see you're awake now.
NewYorkCity:
how do you feel?
Bed-In New Zealand:
amy is very tired and hungry
NewYorkCity:
that's very understandable...
Bed-In New Zealand:
max - I was asking you if it was difficult to support the war being a socialist
Max_in_the_UK:
NYC I saw you as a blurr just now
NewYorkCity:
i'm exhausted and i haven't been as regular on this thing as you guys have been.
NewYorkCity:
i see the conversation is quite active right now...
NewYorkCity:
i don't want to break it up with my re-appearance.
Bed-In New Zealand:
it is very tiring, but there's been some great conversations
Max_in_the_UK:
NZ thats a deep one..... on humanitarian grounds, political and no i have no personal bother being socialist
Bed-In New Zealand:
... and supporting the war in afghanistan?
katy:
did everyone get disconnected?
(private messages deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand: is war (or killing in general) justiified if a greater evil is avoided?
Max_in_the_UK:
yes i do but there is no pragmatic person that can’t help thinking about the innocent lives that will be slaughtered.
katy:
well, let's look at WWII, how does that question pertain?
Max_in_the_UK:
yehhh thats the key question and i am going to appear insensitive and say yes its justified............what does everyone else think
Bed-In New Zealand:
once other avenues have been exhausted completely, diplomacy, international courts, sanctions, etc, then in certain circumstances it would appear to be justified
Max_in_the_UK:
in the nicey nicey world the answer is no........but..........
Max_in_the_UK:
NZ can only say you echo my thoughts there.
Bed-In New Zealand:
but, on the other hand, if society is to progress, at some stage perhaps we have to so no to war like gandhi said no to violence
Bed-In New Zealand:
we have to find other ways - even total passivity
Max_in_the_UK:
yes but is that total naïve?
Bed-In New Zealand:
i guess i'm saying turn the other cheek rather than a tooth for a tooth
Max_in_the_UK:
yes understand perfectly
Bed-In New Zealand:
but then does evil just take over?
Max_in_the_UK:
there are 43 religious wars currently running NOW in the world and it hardly ever falls much below that ........ we are talking about just one now............the current one..............
Bed-In New Zealand:
that's a lot of wars
katy:
?

Bed-In New Zealand:
is there anybody out there?
(private messages deleted)
NewYorkCity: i'm here
NewYorkCity:
and i see katy too
Bed-In New Zealand:
basically, is war ever justified?
NewYorkCity:
i think war is never justified!
Bed-In New Zealand:
even if a "greater" evil can be avoided
Bed-In New Zealand:
sorry katy your last message looked like russion again
NewYorkCity:
i'm not sure i can grade evil.
NewYorkCity:
evil should be avoided regardless of how "great" or "not great" it is perceived to be.
Bed-In New Zealand:
for example, if the deaths of say 100 people in a war would save the extermination of 1 million?
NewYorkCity:
also...evil is somewhat subjective. i'd say suffering rather than evil.
Bed-In New Zealand:
ok suffering
NewYorkCity:
that's an excellent ethical question andy
NewYorkCity:
however, i don't think that's how war works.
NewYorkCity:
take the so-called war on terrorism. right?
Bed-In New Zealand:
of course, you never know the outcome before you start ... ok
NewYorkCity:
it's mainly retaliation for an act that occurred on 9/11
Bed-In New Zealand:
yes
NewYorkCity:
it's not about killing 100 terrorists to save the thousands.
Bed-In New Zealand:
but, the argument is that killing these 100 will prevent another attack which has been promised
NewYorkCity:
going after those 100 "known" terrorists will only create more terrorist wanna-bes
Max_in_the_UK:
LOL i got dc'd and couldnt find the room again.
NewYorkCity:
another attack is inevitable!
Bed-In New Zealand:
can you bookmark it?
NewYorkCity:
welcome back max
Bed-In New Zealand:
i'm not sure how that works
Max_in_the_UK:
dont know
NewYorkCity:
if every "known" terrorist is captured...
Bed-In New Zealand:
yes
NewYorkCity:
within a decade a new breed of terrorist will emerge to avenge the death of all those "known" terrorists!
Bed-In New Zealand:
i agree!
Bed-In New Zealand:
what about WWII
NewYorkCity:
that's why the most sensible thing to do is not fight against terror or evil, but...
see what is the root cause for the terror and/or evil and go on trying to amend that somehow.
Max_in_the_UK:
do you think a terrorist who will die for the cause and not put to war can be beaten?
NewYorkCity:
i'm not sure i understand your question max.
Bed-In New Zealand:
a more vigorous pursuit of the war, and earlier action by the US could potentially have saved a million Jews
NewYorkCity:
yes...
NewYorkCity:
but it still would not have saved all the jews!
Bed-In New Zealand:
so doesn't that justify war in certain circumstances?
NewYorkCity:
i still can't justify war...ever!
Max_in_the_UK:
but what do you do when there is an aggressor ?
Bed-In New Zealand:
i think i agree with you, but trying to think through why
Bed-In New Zealand:
back to gandhi...
Bed-In New Zealand:
when the road was blocked by police with clubs his followers just walked up to them and got beaten
NewYorkCity:
absolutely!
Max_in_the_UK:
but supposing you have an aggressor who is evil
NewYorkCity:
passive resistance rocks man!
Bed-In New Zealand:
it was such a powerful act that the police couldn't believe it
NewYorkCity:
all aggressors are evil!
Bed-In New Zealand:
and who won in the end - gandhi!
Max_in_the_UK:
and will oppress, gaol, torture and kill people into submission
katy:
<where?>
Bed-In New Zealand:
everywhere, I think
katy:
<oh>
Max_in_the_UK:
wb miss katy
katy:
thanks
Max_in_the_UK:
NZ/NYC.........
Bed-In New Zealand:
yep
iosonoio:
hi katy
Max_in_the_UK:
if you extend the gandhi theory...........
Bed-In New Zealand:
iosonoio welcome to the bed-in for peace...
Max_in_the_UK: is it under the assumtion that the aggressor will have good political intentions to make life better for all
Bed-In New Zealand:
usually dubious
NewYorkCity:
let's be a little more specific...
NewYorkCity:
look at what bin laden thinks...
iosonoio:
hi katy
Max_in_the_UK: yes ok
NewYorkCity:
he thinks that his actions are meant as a good for the islamic world
Max_in_the_UK: yes
NewYorkCity:
so what is good is often very subjective.
Max_in_the_UK:
yes
Max_in_the_UK:
but the difference is religious beliefs and political beliefs
NewYorkCity:
what's the difference?
NewYorkCity:
they're both systems for people to belong to.
Max_in_the_UK:
the 11th sep war is a religious and cultural one .......not political
NewYorkCity:
it's just as political!
Max_in_the_UK:
nope .....i men yep you are right
Bed-In New Zealand:
MC, welcome to the bed-in for peace…
Max_in_the_UK:
yes........ you can reduce it all to just belief system
NewYorkCity:
keep in mind that some religions operate very closely to politics...islam is often practiced this way, as i'm sure you know.
NewYorkCity:
how's this going down with you andy?
Max_in_the_UK:
yes.......u made me think a bit deeper and wider
Bed-In New Zealand:
sorry, i was "dealing" with some new arrivals
NewYorkCity:
i'm just sharing my viewpoint with you max...
NewYorkCity:
you don't have to agree. as long as you understand that this is how i see it.
Bed-In New Zealand:
so, nobody supports any war
Max_in_the_UK:
yep s'ok......we are not far apart
NewYorkCity:
i realize that.
Bed-In New Zealand:
how could the USA have addressed the WTC bombings without aggression
NewYorkCity:
if only that was the case andy
Max_in_the_UK:
fundementally no never
NewYorkCity:
through an investigation to first determine EXACTLY who's responsible...
Bed-In New Zealand:
yes
Max_in_the_UK:
thats been done..........so we are led to believe
NewYorkCity:
and then bring with that person or persons to justice in a way that's allowed by law...
NewYorkCity:
and then again that has it's problems...
Bed-In New Zealand:
the USA claims to have evidence, i was confused why they never handed it over to the Taleban
NewYorkCity:
but at least there would be sooo many less casualties.
NewYorkCity:
andy...
NewYorkCity:
i see you're trying to get a snap shot of your laptop.
Bed-In New Zealand:
yes
NewYorkCity:
do you just want the photograph or are you trying to capture what's on your screen?
Bed-In New Zealand:
i was trying to capture the screen with the web cam behind, i'm capturing screens directly
NewYorkCity:
i c
Bed-In New Zealand:
does everyone see katy's text as symbols?
NewYorkCity:
just wanted to make sure you can capture screens electronically...
NewYorkCity:
cause if not i would have emailed you a couple of my screen grabs.
Max_in_the_UK:
i dont see any of katy's text
Bed-In New Zealand:
thanks... i recently discovered command shift 3 on the mac!
NewYorkCity:
cool! :
(private messages deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand: war sucks
Bed-In New Zealand:
i read a great essay by manuel delanda (i think) called the Myth of the Clean War
Bed-In New Zealand:
about how there's this idea put forward by the military that its all very surgical and clean whereas in reality there's people dying horrible deaths and there's lots of "collateral damage"
Bed-In New Zealand:
in Iraq the US fitted bulldozer blades to the front of the tanks and buried the Iraqis alive in the trenches
Bed-In New Zealand:
and all we saw on the news was that radar controlled cruise missile like something out of star wars
NewYorkCity:
you make such a good point andy!
chianti doc:
ciao a tutti
NewYorkCity:
ciao chiati
Bed-In New Zealand:

Bed-In New Zealand:

katy:

NewYorkCity:

Bed-In New Zealand:
sorry
NewYorkCity:
way way back...like a couple of centuries at least!
chianti doc:
ciao a tutti
Bed-In New Zealand:

NewYorkCity:
gli altri sono un po' intimidati perche non parlano italiano
NewYorkCity:
oh well.. he's gone.
Bed-In New Zealand:
so maltese history...
NewYorkCity:
ok. what about it?
Bed-In New Zealand:
you were saying a couple of centuries ago
NewYorkCity:
i'm sorry...i misunderstood.
Bed-In New Zealand:
oh, your ancestry goes back a couple of centuries
NewYorkCity:
i'm done saying :-)
NewYorkCity:
what did you wanna know andy?
NewYorkCity:
well...
Bed-In New Zealand:
i must be tired - its all OK now
NewYorkCity:
all maltese people have a hybrid ancestry...just like most people in the states.
NewYorkCity:
actually malta is like a microcosm of that.
Bed-In New Zealand:
did malta used to be part of italy?
NewYorkCity:
in the middle ages it was part of what was called the kingdom of the two sicilies. now there's only one sicily but that's what the kingdom was called back then.
Bed-In New Zealand:
ok
NewYorkCity:
it was a british colony for many years after 1800.
NewYorkCity:
and it has been independent since 1964
NewYorkCity:
i'll stop there!
Bed-In New Zealand:
wow, a british colony!
NewYorkCity:
you can find more about all this history goo at aboutmalta.com
Bed-In New Zealand:
i'll go there later
NewYorkCity:
and a french colony before that
NewYorkCity:
i smell fire in my building...
NewYorkCity:
i need to go check what it is.
Bed-In New Zealand:
go now
Bed-In New Zealand:
nico, welcome to the bed-in for peace...
Bed-In New Zealand:

NewYorkCity:
it's not clear where the smell is coming from.
Bed-In New Zealand:

NewYorkCity:
i just opened the window and it's stronger outside.
Bed-In New Zealand:
carlos, welcome to the bed-in for peace...
NewYorkCity:

Bed-In New Zealand:

NewYorkCity:
i may be back later...
NewYorkCity:

Bed-In New Zealand:

NewYorkCity:
how many more hours to go andy?
Bed-In New Zealand:
about 7
NewYorkCity:
mmm...
NewYorkCity:
we'll see how it goes at this end. anyway.
NewYorkCity:

Bed-In New Zealand:
bfn
NewYorkCity:
gotta go see what that stong smell is all about.
NewYorkCity:
yes max.
NewYorkCity:

NewYorkCity:
it's probably nothing serious...but i just wanna make sure.
NewYorkCity:

Max_in_the_UK:
NYC.........
Max_in_the_UK:
Good luck and bye
Max_in_the_UK:

Max_in_the_UK:
wb mate
Max_in_the_UK:

Max_in_the_UK:

Bed-In New Zealand:

katy:
alright!
Bed-In New Zealand:

Max_in_the_UK:
lol
Bed-In New Zealand:
amy's going to take the helm
Bed-In New Zealand:
in 5 mins
Max_in_the_UK:
Hi dave
katy:
hello
Max_in_the_UK:
hi benjoe
MC:
c'est l'heure des cadeaux
MC:
belle pause !!
Bed-In New Zealand:
hello katy and max. this is amy typing now.
Bed-In New Zealand:
and hello mc, welcome to the bed-in for peace….
Bed-In New Zealand:
i just need to send a file so i will be right back.
katy:
hi amy, how are you feeling?
Max_in_the_UK:
Helloooo its Amy power now ???
Bed-In New Zealand: okay, we are back, a few technical issues! i am in power now so to speak. i am very tired and hungry but am feeling a bit better. i was basically up all night chatting with people from europe including zorro from islamabad!
(private messages deleted)
Max_in_the_UK: was he brandishing a sword ?
katy:
spoke with zorro earlier today... he didn't stay on too long, but i was able to get a little bit of info from him
Max_in_the_UK:
oh okk
Kay:
kay continues.. hello folks, I am bicoastal, born in NZ and now working back here setting up a residency for artists, writers and environmentalists, but also living in Berkeley, California. So I received a phone call on Sep. 11 from my daughter, Rebecca
Bed-In New Zealand:
no! he was quite into peace actually, and comes from a religious family
Bed-In New Zealand:
hello kay! welcome to the bed-in -for peace!
katy:
has anyone been checking up on today's events while connected?
Bed-In New Zealand:
i just looked at the headlines when i checked my mail from yahoo. report to follow
Max_in_the_UK:
nope... in a nutshell
Max_in_the_UK:
kay.........tell us more.....
kay:
short interruption as Kate Coolahan arrives- thanks for the welcome. (Edward) Said anyway suggests that we need to insert a critical pause and look at interdependent histories of injustice and oppression instead of launching what is definitely a war on a people
Bed-In New Zealand:
anthrax in house, us troops in afghanista, palestinians killed, not good.
katy:
(from cnn) Do you believe now is the right time to send ground troops into Afghanistan?
Yes   82% 227614 votes No   18% 50753 votes
Total:  278,367 votes
Bed-In New Zealand:
sick!
Max_in_the_UK:
its not surprising really
Bed-In New Zealand:
why not max?
*** Bed-In New Zealand has booted naked4u ***
Max_in_the_UK:
if i had to guess at public opinion on that i would have guessed about the same
katy:
still crazy!
Bed-In New Zealand:
yes, people are really needing something to believe in and unfortunately this is currently it.
Max_in_the_UK:
what do you think are the next logistical war mov
katy:
i've always found those polls to be interesting, perhaps not surprising, but interesting nonetheless
max la menace:
hi belgium europa
Bed-In New Zealand:
absolutely, a bit disheartening but interesting.
max la menace:
belgium europa
Bed-In New Zealand:
hello max la mena and tom…
katy:
well, next move.... since the ground troops thing has only just begun, i can only imagine what is to be next... i mean, they keep talking about this war as a "long, drawn out war"
Bed-In New Zealand:
stay in afghanistan until no one is left but US soldiers?
Max_in_the_UK:
why will it be drawn out ?
katy:
who knows... anybody wanna make a guess at the next nation to be targeted? they are talking quite a bit about that here in the US
Max_in_the_UK:
why?
Max_in_the_UK:
isn’t there one objective?
katy:
one objective... meaning afghanistan?
Max_in_the_UK:
yes
Max_in_the_UK:
isn’t the immediate objective to bring bin laden in to world court
katy:
i don't think so... the US is targeting this ambiguous "terrorism" as it's target... this could mean anything and anywhere that america has "its business"
katy:
no
``Tom``:
bringing him to court isn't a good thing to do
Bed-In New Zealand:
why not tom?
Max_in_the_UK:
whys that Tom ?
``Tom``:
how many planes they will hyack if they do ?
``Tom``:
will drive all muslims crazy
katy:
when, in the history of terrorist acts, has one man been responsible? this is how the media makes people feel safe: target one person, "get 'em" and everything is comfy cozy again.
Bed-In New Zealand:
what's the alternative?
``Tom``:
kill him in action
Bed-In New Zealand:
and terrorism will cease?
katy:
hi nyc
NewYorkCity:
hi katy
NewYorkCity:
hi all!
Max_in_the_UK:
hi NYC
``Tom``:
bringing him in court will cause more terrorists to stand up
Bed-In New Zealand:
hi nyc! welcome back.
Max_in_the_UK:
was there smoke without fire ?
Bed-In New Zealand:
hello mc, juanra, welshe, welcome to the bed-in for peace…
NewYorkCity:
i had to come say bye for now amy...
juanra:
hello katy
NewYorkCity: it's been great meeting you and andy...
NewYorkCity:
and some of the visitors you had during this bed-in
Bed-In New Zealand:
it has been an amazing experience.
Max_in_the_UK:
when does the bed -in end ?
katy:
yes, that it has!
Bed-In New Zealand:
bed-in ends officially at 8 p.m. tonight here in nz which is a little over 7 more hours.
(private messages deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand: 48 hours after it started. however, we have had requests to keep the room going for a bit which we are considering. what do you all think?
Max_in_the_UK:
what were your exact motives for you and andy doing it?
katy:
sounds fine, so long as you guys eat and sleep!
Max_in_the_UK:
the bed-in i mean
Max_in_the_UK:
i know what i mean anyway......
Max_in_the_UK:
ohhhhhh.......
Max_in_the_UK:
yeahhh keep it going for a week
Bed-In New Zealand:
here is andy again
Max_in_the_UK:
but change the sheets
Bed-In New Zealand:
so i got the difficult question
Max_in_the_UK:
which was ?
Bed-In New Zealand:
1) feeling of helplessness 2) wanting to see what everybody else thinks 3) wanting to put out a different message than the media
katy:
good! (i guess)
``Tom``:
here in holland there were a couple off guys testing how long they could stay alive only using internet, seems they could do it for year so u guys have a long way to go
NewYorkCity:
it was just a regular common dumpster fire...
NewYorkCity:
no weird/funny monkey business from what i could see.
Bed-In New Zealand:
why we are doing the bed - in that's what i was answering
Bed-In New Zealand:
see above
Max_in_the_UK:
good for NYC
Max_in_the_UK:
and tell us more andy
(private message deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand: welcome back
Max_in_the_UK:
and wow to Tom
cesar III:
te voie plus
Max_in_the_UK:
and katy.............well katy is katy
katy:
and the fasting bit... how do you feel about it now?
katy:
and katy.............well katy is katy huh?
Bed-In New Zealand: more ... 4) like this is a possible way to build a community of peace - sidestep the govts and media and make our own world!
katy:
do you think that you'll be able to respond best in retrospect?
Bed-In New Zealand:
TOO utopian?
``Tom``:
if everybody would stay in bed there would be no war
Bed-In New Zealand:
exactly
NewYorkCity:
just a little utopian!
katy:
no, it appears to be working..
Max_in_the_UK:
world domination......... forcing peace on to everyone
NewYorkCity:
that's the plan behind the bed-in concept tom.
Bed-In New Zealand:
no forcing....
Brad From Alaska:
hello toni
NewYorkCity:
that's an interesting spin on the concept max
katy:
(but what happens after the 7 remaining hours are up?)
Bed-In New Zealand:
brad, welcome back! are you in vegas?
``Tom``:
well what are the muslim forcing us to ?
``Tom``:
they go for world domination
Bed-In New Zealand:
who knows after its finished - maybe this event will just be one moment in the process
NewYorkCity:
one moment is enough for me!
NewYorkCity:
maybe i'm too much of a realist.
Bed-In New Zealand:
or maybe we will keep the room going, but at this level it’s hard work
katy:
as it stands, it's part of my process and everyone else involved, so, ultimately i feel very good about the bed-in
Bed-In New Zealand:
we'll need a grant or something
NewYorkCity:
keeping the room going is an excellent idea.
Bed-In New Zealand:
good!
NewYorkCity:
this is a great way to start a room.
NewYorkCity:
no one expects you to fast and be in bed all the time.
Bed-In New Zealand:
well, it’s an open room anyone can gather there! i'll take the bed part..
katy:
when i went to bed last night i could stop thinking about the conversations....the implications...etc. (so, i think that it has "worked" on several levels)
NewYorkCity:
i strongly believe that the best way to change the world is to change ourselves.
katy:
through community
NewYorkCity:
change on that level is inevitable. right?
Bed-In New Zealand:
that's great to hear katy, we also feel that there have been shifts taking place within ourselves.
Bed-In New Zealand:
community building breaks down stereotypes and fear and allows positive change.
katy:
that's what i was also wondering about.
katy:
i had asked (i think andy) earlier about the feeling one goes through in fasting and how it effects one in relation to the "global experience" and on a personal level...
cesar III:
tu pourais etre top model
Bed-In New Zealand:
fasting is a weird place to be. i think we did it to truly focus on the issues at hand. i believe in earlier correspondance i also said we were hoping to receive "epiphanies" telling us how to bring peace, but that have been the hunger talking.
katy: not to get too 'off topic', but are you familiar with the performance work of marina abromovic? and how might you feel that her work relates to this "happening" ?
Bed-In New Zealand:
well, i only know a little of her work, could you refresh my memory a bit here.
katy:
i wrote a paper on her earlier that dealt with transgression as primal to her work
Bed-In New Zealand:
welcome back dutchy!
Dutchy:
Hey bed-in.
Dutchy:
you guys always in bed!
Dutchy:
what's up with that?
Bed-In New Zealand:
well, i am interested in breaking down boundaries in all of my work, as an artist, a teacher and writer on different levels.
katy:
some of her most popular work was in collaboration with ulay, her former partner. they did several pieces called nightsea crossing, in which they sat at long tables, staring at each other for days and sometimes weeks
Dutchy:
funny
Bed-In New Zealand:
dutchy, we are fasting and meditating on world peace for 48 hours in bed. and, i must say, it's been a bit more grueling than we expected. all this typing!
Bed-In New Zealand:
oh yes, katy, i know that piece.
katy:
as the years went on, they included several (holy or symbolic) objects to be placed in the middle of the table...
Bed-In New Zealand:
are they the ones that were handcuffed together for a month?
katy:
they went through a variety of hallucinations... the work ultimately ending when one or the other decides it's over (non-verbally) they tried to create a link between the two where both would decide at the same time, a sort of inter-dependence
Dutchy:
that must be difficult without food, but at least it is for world peace.
Bed-In New Zealand:
this is new to us, really, the endurance performance but i definately see some links to abromovic.
Dutchy:
wanna cookie... just kidding
katy:
no, that was linda montano
Bed-In New Zealand:
dutchy, cruel! how are things in sf?
katy:
(forgot her last name!)
Dutchy:
sorry
Bed-In New Zealand:
right, thanks for looking that up for me.
Dutchy:
it's a cloudy day... bit cold
Bed-In New Zealand:
no problem dutchy, where are you? is the picture real time?
Dutchy:
got drunk last night
(private messages deleted)
Bed-In New Zealand:
hello capstun, welcome to the bed-in for peace….
katy:
i can only imagine! i haven't eaten anything so far today.. but i've had coffee and water and cigarettes and I feel pretty light-headed... can't even imagine what you guys are going through.
