President Bush's Press Conference, April 13, 2004:

"As controversy continues over the Olympic Pool cover in Athens, the US Olympic TEAM can breath a sigh of relief!!!!!! Will there be a cover for the pool? Will the swimmers have to compete in the blistering heat? Well, For Americans the heat will no longer be an issue!!!!!"
"Diane the American Swimmer and the folks at NASA will provide the US Olympic Swim Team with SPACE CAPS.

These SPace CAPS will protect the swimmers from the unbearable Greek sun pounding down on them in the open air. I am convinced that this will give us the edge we need to conquer the swimming competition. I am supporting and funding this project, because I know that Americans want to be winners!"

"I WILL TAKE THREE QUESTIONS... "

QUESTION: Will swimmers from other countries be able to wear the space caps?

PRESIDENT BUSH: No, Terry, they won't. Sometimes thiings that are American should just be for Americans. I believe that, and I am not going to apologize for it.
QUESTION: Are you confident that the Americans will win the GOLD?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Of course, I am always confident. We will win!! America will always go 110% to win... We will do whatever it takes.

QUESTION: There are rumors circulating that Diane The American Swimmer is going to carry the Olympic Torch this summer. The rumor implies that you, Mr. President pressured the US Olympic Committee to include her long before the development of the SPACE CAP. Is there any truth to this?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, I was going to save that announcement for another day, but yes, Diane the American Swimmer will carry the Torch. I am proud to have her representing us here and in space.... Thanks everyone.
