Skipper John Oman was born and raised in Winconsin. He break the East to west Trans Pacific speed record in 1994.

The boat Northwest Spirit
Northwest Spirit is a very high tech and innovative yacht build of fiberglass. The pilot house where skipper John will spend a good share of his time is made of a carbon fiber frame with polycarbonate windows for good visibility. The aluminium mast rises 71 feet off the deck and the distance to instruments and radio antennas at the top of the mast is nearly 80 feet off the water.
