Road to Omagh
I was on the road to Omagh, a market town in the North West midlands myself
yesterday just after receiving your images. Driving is always a good context
for looking at and considering the landscape. I am always struck by the
way it presents itself as a moving panorama,
on a horizontal plane. It becomes a journey, reminding you of other journeys.
After the end of the motorway at Dungannon the road to Omagh is an A road
heading towards the North West. You often see bus shelters ' in the middle
of nowhere' on these roads. These are connecting routes serving a rural
community and linking the local Market towns. This image puts me in mind
of such places. Physically it looks more like the Glenshane Pass between
Toombe Bridge and Dungiven than the Dunganon - Omagh road, however these
type of shelters in these locations generally serve the same purpose.
