there is an impossibility of distance of expression between the record of my children on this particular day and my love for my children. the only way to indicate this distance. the only way to indicate this emotion. (empathy, loss, care, anxieties of concern.) the only way, is to state its impossibility.

the irony of this statement is not its mawkishness. within the performance of these words in concert with a digital trace, its irony is not a mock irony that signals the legitimacy of any art which must now know its own absurd complicity, it is the irony in the ability of a sentence to say "this is not" yet for the impossibility of my pictures to do this.
