Which events have lead to the development and use of the atomic bomb? A history of half a century, which saw two world wars employing advanced technology, and the introduction of mass murder as a method of warfare, culminated in the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan by the USA.

Witness stories are few and not easy to read, but they probably belong to the core of this century's history.
