It was closer to an abstract subject than before.
Waves were a concrete image but had abstract forms.
I developed more medieval techniques and materials to my own style.
A painting was painted on a thick and solid long piece of wood,
frequently it consisted of two or three separated panels.
I had been thinking that a painting had to have a frame.
But I did not attach frames to the paintings in the series Waves.
I showed sides of the wood panels. It also freed my mind.
In 1989,
I had my first show at Soho in New York City.
When I began the Waves series,
the waves were water.
Waves in the water were the substance,
and movement of waves was the quality.
I painted waves in the water.
Around 1989,
I began to doubt that idea
and had more interest in Movement.
I became more interested in about surrounding phenomenon
or cause than objects itself.
I began to visualize movement.
The following series "Movement" or "Streams ..." was started in 1990.
