Territory

The territory of alleys is a strange one. They are something between semi-public and semi-private space. They describe the peripheries of territories, acting almost as an interface. Who is responsible for an ally, who maintains it, who owns it? If you are seen in an ally behind houses your actions almost immediately become suspect. When such an alley backs on to a military installation the relationship is even stranger because the voyeuristic security element is introduced into the equation.
